The Piping Competition is operated by the Argyll Piping Trust (APT) whose Privacy Policy covers the personal data entered by applicants to the Competition. The Privacy Policy is given below.

The APT operates under the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 which regulates the collection of your personal information. Under the terms of the General Data Protection 2018 the APT considers that it has a legitimate interest in collecting personal information. This privacy policy describes how we collect, use and protect your personal information.
The Argyll Piping Trust is a charity, regulated by the Scottish Charity Regulator, registered charity number: SC012513. It organises the annual Argyllshire Gathering Piping Competitions.
Information that can identify you (Personal Information) will be collected, processed, stored and used by the APT and, in certain instances, passed to other organisations to enable the operation of the competitions. This information is gathered via the Oban Games website.
The APT collects a variety of personal data including name, address, e mail address, telephone number, date of birth, information on piping grading, tutor, referee and piping history. The information will vary depending upon the individual’s involvement with the Competitions.
Why do we need your personal information?
The APT may use your personal information for the following purposes:
Without personal information the APT would not be able to organise or hold the competitions.
We will not collect any personal information from you that we do not need to provide this service to you.
The personal information we collect is processed through the Oban games website and by the Piping Steward and/or Piping Secretary. It is held on the website in electronic format and in paper format for the competitions. The personal information is processed to reach a decision on eligibility and to organise the competitions. The APT shares certain personal detail with the Competing Pipers Association, the joint committee for Solo Piping competitions, the Solo piping judges Association and the Northern Meeting to determine who is eligible to play in the competitions. No other third parties have access to your personal information.
Until you ask for it to be removed. Until you are no longer eligible to play at the competitions. Until the information is no longer relevant for the running of the competitions.
We will take reasonable precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of information you give us, including the use of firewalls, passwords and back up. In addition certain electronic information is encrypted.
Communication in connection with the competitions will, where possible, be sent by e mail. For ease of use and compatibility, communications will not be sent in an encrypted form. Whilst we endeavour to keep our systems and communications protected against viruses and other harmful effects we cannot bear responsibility for all communications being virus free.
If at any point you wish to access your personal information or believe the information we process on you is incorrect you can request to see this information and have it corrected or deleted.
